Dress: Georgian Period Costume (1714 - 1837)
Price: Free!
It’s that time of year again – time for the Georgian Picnic! With an afternoon filled with charming Rococo and Regency costume, delicious food, fun period games, and lively conversation, it’s easy to see why this has become one of our most popular events! Bring your favorite picnic foods, or if you’re feeling adventurous, try your hand at an 18th Century recipe! All attempts and interpretations of 18th Century costume are welcome, from exacting recreations to dastardly pirates!
Our party will be held at River Legacy Park in Arlington, next to the big pavilion in the back of the park. Bring blankets, chairs, food, games, family, and friends. The event is free and costumes are optional, but encouraged! RSVPs are not required.
Costume Links: There are a wide variety of patterns available that you can use to make a Georgian costume. There are a few suitable patterns in the Halloween section of the "big 3" pattern makers that you can buy in any fabric store, but some of the better patterns are only sold online. Here are a few companies that sell the most popular 18th century and Regency costume patterns:
